Hello all,
So this year I would generally consider ANUWTF a success. We had a decent number of people, things went pretty smoothly and people seemed generally happy with the tournament.
This is not to say that there is not room for improvement. Instead of going into problems into great details I’m simply going through a list of changes for the next tournament – yes ANUWTF 2011 2.0. I discussed running this tournament in July, and I’m still keen as long as other people are keen to. Here are some of the basic details to give people an idea of what to expect with this tournament.
1. 2000 points
2. Painting will be divided into 3 categories, with maximum points given to anyone with a table top standard army (painted, some washes, highlights etc). There will not however be a painting prize.
3. There will still be a combination of mathhammer + TO discretion for comp. Not an identical to the last one, but similar concept
4. Sports will be very very different. There will be a checklist of everything we expect a good sport to be, and expecting smooth play. There will also be a checklist the TO does for games to ensure they go smoothly. If you bring everything, and are a good sport you’ll still get high marks.
5. There will be a couple more army restrictions, nothing crazy but be prepared
6. The cheat sheet will be far more extensive, with multiple page references for your convenience
7. Here is the biggest thing. The price will be the same, but I’ll be offering a $5 discount to people who pre-register one month before. I’ll also be offering $5 discount for people who pay up front at least a week before. I will however not discount the money if you do not rock up on the day.
What does that basically means?
1. You can pre-register 2 weeks (maximum), rock up on the day pay $35. You don’t rock up, haven’t paid at all no sweat
2. You can pre-register 2 weeks (maximum), pay a week before, only have to pay $30 dollars
3. You can not pre-register 2 weeks before, let me know you coming a week out, but pay a week before $35 again
4. You pay me on day, only give me a weeks notice, $40 on day
Why am I doing this system? Mainly because I have no idea if the month of July and this style of tournament this time of year will attract people. For most people, who pre-register early and pay on day you save $5 over ANUWTF (April). For people who really aren’t sure if they are going to rock up, and only want to pre-register a week before its still $40, but you still get 6 games of warhammer, food and drink and a fun time.
So this is the basic concept so far, feel free to ask me questions. I’ll be e-mailing everyone from the original tournament (all who attended and expressed interested) in the next couples of days providing them the link to where I will be posting major updates, and to see expression of interested.
Note that without a certain amount of interest, I won't be able to put on the tournament. So go go your support!
Overall I think with enough expression of interest, we can make this an even better and funner tournament then ANUWTF 2011, running smoother and friendly as well!
